Function Therapeutics, Inc. is a newly incorporated research firm developing novel approaches and molecules for the treatment of certain inflammation-driven disorders, including kidney disease, thrombosis, and neurodegeneration. Its first research lab will be opening in the spring of 2022 in the Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. To help build our next generation of anti-inflammatory compounds, we are looking for several business executives and enthusiastic “drug hunters” with interests in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry or pharmacology to join our team.

Work with the CEO to execute a multimillion dollar seed fundraise, and establish milestones to support future fundraising.
Assist with projecting costs for preclinical development and phase 1 clinical trials.
Confirm that reliable accounting and reporting systems are in place (U.S. GAAP) to support both federal grants and future SEC regulations.
Oversee internal cost controls and outsourced accounting work.
Ensure that tax filings and grant accounting paperwork are properly handled.
Oversee HR functions for a small, largely virtual organization, and advise the CEO as needed.
Candidates interested in a long-term role should be interested in working with executives to plan business development activities with prospective pharmaceutical partners.
BS/BA in accounting, finance, or business admin; CPA preferred.
Executive experience in biotech/therapeutics startups with successful fundraising achievements, in either operations or finance capacities.
Corporate accounting experience within larger firms is also desirable, ideally within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Desirable to be well-versed in SEC reporting requirements.
